Nutrient Assessment Reduction Planning

Background:

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) is requiring certain municipal wastewater treatment NPDES permittees to develop or be a part of a watershed group that develops a Nutrient Assessment Reduction Plan. This is in response to the Agency determining that the operator’s treatment plant is upstream of a waterbody or stream segment that is at risk of eutrophication due to phosphorus levels in the waterbody.

Greater Egypt is assisting advisory groups for two watersheds in southern Illinois to complete a NARP. Details on each project are below and meeting information will be posted here as it becomes available.

BIG MUDDY WATERSHED NARP
