Nutrient Assessment Reduction Planning
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) is requiring certain municipal wastewater treatment NPDES permittees to develop or be a part of a watershed group that develops a Nutrient Assessment Reduction Plan. This is in response to the Agency determining that the operator’s treatment plant is upstream of a waterbody or stream segment that is at risk of eutrophication due to phosphorus levels in the waterbody.Greater Egypt is assisting advisory groups for two watersheds in southern Illinois to complete a NARP:
BIG MUDDY WATERSHED: Benton, Carbondale Northwest, Carbondale Southeast, Carterville, Herrin, Murphysboro, West Frankfort
SALINE RIVER WATERSHED: Harrisburg
