Pond Creek Watershed-based Plan

Development of the Pond Creek Watershed-based Plan began in October of 2017. A watershed resource inventory was constructed to characterize various watershed components. This document also identifies areas impacted by nonpoint source pollution. With the Pond Creek Watershed Committee providing guidance throughout the planning phase, the remaining components of the plan were completed.

The Pond Creek Watershed contains 21,192 acres of predominantly forested and agricultural land. Pond Creek is the sole waterbody in the planning area on the IEPA’s 303(d) List of Impaired Waters. However, the watershed is made up of a vast network of tributaries. Best Management Practices (BMP) were proposed to limit nutrient runoff and restore these waterbodies.
